Trend Spotlight: Tutti Frutti

29 Feb

Our mommas always told us to eat our fruits and veggies, not play with them.

But, fashion’s not listening. Fruitify your shoppers – looking good and having fun aren’t impossible.

Of course, if you’re kind of obsessed with fashion and watch those trends like a hawk, you’ll know that fruity fashions have been in the making for awhile. In Spring 2011, Stella McCartney dabbled in it and so did Prada with their very popular banana print (shown below):

We're not a fan of the crazy eyes or the giant stripes... ha!

Here are a few looks that went down the runways for this season:

Dolce & Gabbana

Moschino Cheap and Chic

OK. Many of us can’t just whip out a banana covered skirt or strawberry dress like it’s no big deal, so… (you know what we’re going to say next) – accessorize! Take a look at the picks below and be sure to tell us what you think.

Trend Spotlight: Art Deco

23 Feb

One of this season’s biggest trends is art deco, a style that, according to our ever handy Wikipedia, originated in Paris in the 1920s. The style is predominantly recognized by its creative use of geometry and architecture. Lines intersect each other every which way to create interesting patterns.

For example, here’s a look from Alexander Wang:

A look from Milly:

All the dizzying lines can be a tad too much for most people (confession: some of us here aren’t brave enough to pull off these runway looks). Thank goodness – accessories to the rescue! Accessories are a more subtle, but still fashion forward, way to adopt the trend.

The always classy, chic Carolina Herrera:

Does Rinadon like art deco? Of course, we do! Take a look at our picks below. [Click photo to be directed to product details.]
